Journaling goes back in time to the beginning of writing. It went by many different names, but the purpose of writing was always the same, to leave a legacy of who we were for the generations to come.
When my first granddaughter was born, I created a special gift for her, what some people call a legacy box. In that box, I placed letters for her to read on her future birthdays. The most important of them was for her eighteenth birthday. In a couple of decades, she will read my message to her. I hope that my words will inspire her to become everything she was meant to be.
In this new internet age with every part of our lives captured on social media, we often forget the value of leaving a written legacy for those who follow us.
